The mortorcyle cop is in hiding again. Sirens and lights flashing to stop and ticket those drivers making "rolling stops". Nothing to do with safety. It's all about generating revenue for the city.
That's very good to know! Thank you!
Oh, sorry to hear that. Not a bad deal, but in the future you might want to consider Costco for tires. I believe they stand totally behind their tires, and they fix flats for free.
"City Island"
Starring: Andy Garcia, Julianna Margulies, Steven Strait, and a terrific cast! Funny, touching, heartfelt.
I tried it after hearing about it on "Diners, Driveins, and Dives". Their pastrami is "cured for two weeks, rubbed with a special spice blend, and smoked with applewood." Sounds delicious, and it is good. Perhaps not as good as The Hat, and definitely not nearly as good as Langer's pastrami. I had their signature sandwich called the "Oinkster Pastrami". In addition to the pastrami, it came with Gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, and red cabbage slaw ($9.49). The twice-dipped Belgian fries ($2.25) were just o.k., and even tasted a bit stale. The sauces (roasted garlic aioli, homemade ketchup, and others) were terrific. I'll definitely go back because the BBQ pulled pork and the chicken salad sandwich both looked great.
Unfortunately, we never made it to this legendary hamburger joint. The lines were always too long!
It's well worth the trip up the hill to visit this winery. And what a view when you get there! The owner's friendly daughter, Laura, is very knowledgeable and welcoming.
It used to be a senior citizen gathering place called "Elder Day".
Having another delicious Tuna and Artichoke ($6.50) and a Tejava iced tea. You can't beat that combo! Also try the "Castroville Italian" sandwich ($6.25).
Classic joint! Since 1908 this place has been serving steaks and fish. The lamb chops we had were terrific, and the red snapper was very good. We loved the blue cheese/shrimp salad. Delicious dressing. Small bar in back to have a cocktail while waiting for your table. But it's really the atmosphere that makes this a four star dining experience. Check out the Maltese Falcon upstairs, the pictures on every square inch of the walls, and read the fascinating history on your menu. Reservations recommended.
Busy breakfast/lunch place. Cozy, with great atmosphere. Small tables and five seats at the counter. We enjoyed the pancakes, spicy Louisiana sausage, eggs, and home fried potatoes! About $9.00 for a full breakfast; $13.00 for a little bit of nearly everything. Breakfast items ordered by most of the diners.
Wow! Sounds wonderful. Have a great time in Las Vegas. Is it pretty quiet now that the CES left?
Back here for another one-day conference on gifted/talented education. "The Next Frontier: Gifted Education in the Information Age"
I can't believe that! What about the riveting story? What about the extraordinary performances?
"Invictus"... An exceptional film! A+
"Everybody's Fine"... A few funny and touching moments. C
"The Lovely Bones" C
"Nine" C-
Both movies have terrific actors, but they just barely kept my interest.
'Up in the Air'
Starring: George Clooney, Anna Kendrick, Vera Farmiga
Easily one of the year's best movies. I think you'll be hearing a lot of great things about this movie in the coming weeks. A+
"Precious: Based on the novel 'Push' by Sapphire"
Starring: Gabourey Sidibe
I don't even know where to begin. I don't know what to say. I'll have to let it sink in. The movie had some terrific performances, but it was very painful to watch.
'The Road'
Starring: Viggo Mortensen
I read the book. I should have known! A total downer...bleak and depressing. (C-)
'A Serious Man'
Starring: Michael Stuhlbarg
The Coen brothers... creative, strange, and funny (B)
